Since Clinique reformulated my favorite foundation several years ago I have yet to find one that really works for me. Recently, I’ve been using Tarte Hybrid Gel foundation which feels great and gives amazing coverage. Unfortunately, it’s too moisturizing and lacks longevity for the summer months (although I’m thinking that it will be good for the dryer winter months).
I’ve been curious about IT Cosmetic CC+ Cream for quite a while so when QVC offered a super size tube of their Illumination CC + cream in a favorites set for $59, I went ahead and purchased it.
From a value perspective this set is great . You get 2.53 oz of CC Cream (normally the standard 1.08 oz tube sells for $38). Given the retail price this is like getting over $80 work of CC cream. I chose the CC cream in the shade light which is a little deeper than I expected but works well with my skin tone now that I have a little summer tan.
Also included is a Je Ne Sais Quoi lip treatment which is an extremely hydrating balm that lends just a little bit of color.
Also part of the set is a tube of Tight Liner Mascara. Tight Liner is a skinny mascara that will multi task and create a lined look to your eyes. Im excited to try it.
I love that they also included the Heavenly Skin CC+ brush in this set. In fact, I’ve loved all the brushes that I have tried from IT Cosmetics. They are all super soft and perform well.
So how is the CC cream faring? Well – I think I have found the perfect foundation. It multitasks as a moisturizer, primer and foundation and has SPF 50 (I always love extra SPF in my products). It has buildable coverage that can go from medium to full. I need that adjustable coverage to hide redness issues that will occasionally show up from time to time. It also gives a really natural looking youthful finish that lasts most of the day (and that’s what I’m looking for). I find I just need a slight powder touch up in the late afternoon.
Im really glad I gave this set a shot!
I was so very close to cancelling my Birchbox subscription. Lately, the box has just been samples that I never seem to use and I hate wasting anything (even if Birchbox’s point system is pretty great). Birchbox must have known because they sent me a box that I’m actually excited about.
I chose as my sample choice this month Benefit’s new Gimme Brow. Gimme Brow is a quick brush on brow filler. The sample packaging is adorable.
Avene Thermal Spring Water: This spray is a very generous sample and would make a great travel size. I’m not really sure what this product does other than offering a cool refreshing mist. But like it!
PBJ Smoothie Stick: I think this might be a full size lip crayon which is great! I’m always happy to have a new lip product. I really like the pink (with a hint of mauve ) color.
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Illuminator. Ok, Birchbox must have read my mind because I was actually toying with the idea of shelling out for a full size of this product. I was not disappointed with its performance. I like the pigmentation and the gold shade is really nice.
Coola Radical Recovery After Sun Lotion: I have been out in the sun a lot lately so I will definitely be using this!
So Birchbox has me for another month. If they keep sending me items I can actually use I may never cancel!
I recently cancelled a subscription box so I decided to give Sephora play a shot. I like Birchbox but am always on the look out for something better. In the same vain as Birchbox – Play is $10 and you receive a card for 50 points from Sephora (with any purchase) .
The theme this month was Forces of Nature and the box came with a little card detailing the samples (that come in a cute little bag).
Briogeo Conditioning Mask: I wasn’t very excited to get this because although it was nice I’ve already tried it from Birchbox. It is decent conditioner though.
Atelier Cologne: Another Birchbox sample repeat (I luckily like the smell)
Origins Maskimizer: This sample set included a pre mask spray along with two of origins masks Drink Up and Clear Improvement. I have tried them and they are fantastic.
Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial: I do like Korres so I was happy this was included. The rose scent is way to heavy but the product is very nice.
Tart Tartiest lip crayon in Latergram: This is a pretty small crayon sample but I really love the mauve shade.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kimchi: I was so excited about this. I love Bite Beauty and the sample is an adorable mini of Bite’s regular packaging. The shade is just too bright for me. That being said I like the formula a lot.
Jury is still out on this box . I’m not sure if it beats Birchbox. I liked most of the samples but wasn’t very excited about a couple. I’m looking forward to what the June box will look like.
When lipstick goes on sale it is so hard for me not buy one. Lipsticks are just great little purchases that are pickmeups for not so great days. Needless to say when Ulta and Sephora had sales last month I caved and purchased not one but two.
The first lipstick up is from Lipstick Queen. I had never tried Lipstick Queen before but it has been on my list for quite a while now. I purchased the Saint lipstick in the shade pink.
Saint is described as sheer, long lasting moisturizing formula . The lipstick comes in a cute gold tube. This is a very creamy lipstick and I found the formula quite comfortable to wear. The lipstick was actually a little more opaque then I thought it would be which I really liked. My favorite thing about it was the color. The shade is a natural pink that warms up my complexion immensely.
Next up is the Gwen Stefani lipstick by Urban Decay in the shade Ex Girlfriend. Ex Girlfriend is described as a sheer nude rose. I had my eye on this shade for a while and it happened to go on sale so I snatched it up (btw, all Urban Decay lipsticks are on sale for 50 percent off right now) Most of the lipsticks from this collection were reds and I just never wear reds for some reason so I naturally gravitated towards this neutral shade.
I absolutely love the packaging. It is a tube with a gold and black design that I find very luxe looking. The formula is moisturizing and easy to wear. The color is extremely natural – although I was a little disappointed with how sheer it was. It is very sheer but is atleast a no fuss lipstick that you dont have to worry about. It doesn’t last more than 3 hours so it is something you also need to reapply. If you like bright more opaque colors this would not be your best bet.
All in all Im glad I picked these up as they have already gotten a lot of use in the last few weeks.
So I was pretty excited to see this full size creamy lip crayon in my Birchbox this April. I love it when Birchbox comes through with some full size products to make up for the random samples that I get that I’ll never use.
I can be incredibly picky when it comes to lip products. I love a nice lipstick, but I don’t want to wear them all the time and have to keep up with them throughout the day. I like something that stays put, doesn’t need a lot of maintenance, and won’t dry my lips out like the Sahara desert. Enter The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick!
The first thing that made an impression on me, aside from the fact that it’s super cute, is that it smells amazing. It’s a fruity and floral scent (almond butter and goji berry!) without smelling like you’re putting perfume on your lips. It glides on so smooth and works perfectly for lining itself. It’s richly pigmented so you really only need a few swipes, not several layers like some. The end result is a matte, pretty, reddish lip.
With the natural ingredients like beeswax, sweet almond oil, and goji berry extract, it really leaves your lips in better condition than before. One of my favorite parts is that it wears so well throughout the day. Even as the inside starts to fade after a coffee and a meal it looks great, and it’s easy to touch up. This is the perfect all-in-one stick, and great for me when I’m feeling lazy about make-up.
This lip crayon is $14.95 on the Birchbox website, and in my opinion it’s worth every penny! This little guy will definitely last a while so it’s a great value!
